Team Butterfly was created to benefit the Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation, an organization committed to finding a cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). EB is an extremely rare, painful, and life threatening skin disease that causes blistering throughout the body. The team was founded by David Beiss, an 18 year old Yeshiva student who has battled EB his entire life. David created Team Butterfly in order to help raise much needed funds to help progress the promising research being done to find a cure for EB. EB affects about 25,000 people in the United States. Many people who have been diagnosed with EB do not make it past their early childhood. Last year, in our inaugural run, we had close to 50 runners in the Jerusalem Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 10k and raised almost $50,000 towards research! This year in Jerusalem we have raised over $60,000 with 84 runners! With your help David, as well as other people affected by EB, can grow up to live full and pain-free lives!
