We are raising funds for the FREE clitoral reconstruction hospital in Port Harcourt to give women in Africa who have undergone female genital mutilation the oppurtunity to regain their sexuality and reduce their pain. We will also be raising funds for our partner, SAWA Association for Development in Giza, Egypt to help the fight against female genital mutilation in Egypt where the prevalence of the practice is 97%.
CAGeM is committed to the eradication of female genital mutilation (FGM). Our campaign focuses on developing and implementing educational programs to eradicate FGM and assist victims with free services. We also pursue the introduction of legislation banning FGM. The Campaign Against Genital Mutilation, CAGeM, is a nonprofit group that provides multi-faceted programs in communities throughout the world, with a mission of alleviating the effects of genital mutilation on its’ victims and mitigating its occurrence. CAGeM approaches the crisis of female genital mutilation in a multi-faceted manner by: providing free clinics where victims of genital mutilation can seek counseling and receive clitoral repair surgery, economically empowering women, and educating communities to examine and question a value system that condones this practice. Our efforts to respond to this nightmare are rooted in a realist-based and thorough plan.
