My name is Barbara Kelly Scafidi, I live in San Diego but am originally from New York. I am a stay at home mom, with three children ages 10,9 and 5. This year will mark my fourth New York City Marathon. While I have run to benefit various charities in the past, this year I have decided to dedicate the entire run to CCBF with a goal of $10,000. It is my small way of saying thank you to Dr. James Bussel and his extraordinary staff at the CCBF clinic in New York City.
In 2010 Jack became ill and was taken to a doctor near our home in San Diego. When it was clear that Jack was exhibiting signs of a bleeding disorder I began to search for a specialist. After speaking with my own hematologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center we were referred to the CCBF clinic in New York City, specifically James Bussel. Jack has been under Dr. Bussel's care for two years and we are happy to report he is doing great!!! Jack's check-ups in New York and having Dr. Bussel and his team only a phone call away gives us great comfort.
We are so grateful to all of our family and friends who have supported our charities during these challenging times.
Please support my run and make a donation to help CCBF today and make an impact on the lives of children who suffer from cancer and blood disorders.
