BENEFITING: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
ORGANIZER: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
As some of you may know, I am currently serving in a 10 month AmeriCorps program out in Pittsburgh as a Nutrition Educator with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (GPCFB). Since my time with the GPCFB, I have been very fortunate in experiencing the tremendous impact this organization is in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Astonishingly, the Food Bank distributes roughly 27 million pounds of food a year to numerous members and agencies such as: food pantries, senior high rises, community centers, shelters, and after-school programs, with about 120,000 families-per-month that utilize the Food Bank’s services.
While serving at the Food Bank, I have seen how valuable this organization is in the Pittsburgh community. I have had parents shower me with hugs because they are able to provide their family with a meal. I have seen children's faces light up with joy after making a healthy snack. I know how conscientious and devoted the Food Bank’s employees and volunteers are in the fight to end hunger in Southwestern Pennsylvania because I interact with these awesome people everyday.
In May, I am planning to run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, and I have chosen the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank as the charity to fundraise for because of their admirable work in their community. My goal is to raise $350 for the Food Bank. Please consider in helping me reach my goal to help out this great organization. On the right-hand side of this page, there is “Donate to this Fundraiser Icon”. If you click on it, you will be transported to a site where you can help me reach the $350 mark!
I believe there is a $10 minimum if you would like to donate on this site. But if you would like to donate a smaller amount, or if you would prefer to contribute via another method (i.e. check, cash, and/or paypal), please send me an email at: email@example.com . Any donation amount helps! Even if you are only able to donate a dollar or two, that will help me out tremendously! Thank you for your support!
