Riding in the Tour de BBQ to support the Live Strong Army of Kansas City to cure cancer.
I was humming along in life, family and work was going great. All of the sudden things took a turn. I went into the doctor for a checkup - a week later I was going in for a biopsy - a few days later I was talking to an oncologist. One of the things I will never forget is sitting in the waiting room before seeing my oncologist for the first time. I happened to be the youngest one there by 20 or so years. Talk about a blow to my ego, I felt I was impervious to anything like this.
I'm lucky, I only had to go thru 6 rounds of chemo and a month of radiation. There are a lot of people suffering years of treatment with not good results. I know of one person who goes down to Houston every 6 months for exploratory surgery. If they find cancer they give his insides a "chemo bath". So far he is winning his fight.
My heart breaks for little kids that have to go thru chemo and radiation. Some have gone thru it so long and that pain is the only thing they know.
My goal is to raise money for research to cure cancer. Please give what you can.
