BENEFITING: CHICAGO RUN
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
Founded in 2007 to aid in the fight against childhood obesity, Chicago Run’s mission is to promote the health and wellness of Chicago children through innovative, engaging, and sustainable youth running programs. Chicago Run offers ¬free running and fitness programs to increase physical activity, promote cross-community collaboration, and enhance academic performance and self-esteem in Chicago youth from pre-K through high school.
In FY16, Chicago Run offered its programs in 43 Chicago Public Schools (CPS), serving nearly 17,250 students in 28 diverse neighborhoods across the city.
Today, drastic budget cuts to sports and health programs are significantly contributing to an already noticeable gap in fitness and leadership opportunities for youth in low-income communities. This decrease in available programming has a significant negative impact not only on the physical health of Chicago children, but on the academic and subsequent professional success of Chicago youth. Because of you and others like you, Chicago Run is able to continue to be a beacon of hope – inspiring Chicago youth to tackle physical challenges and self-improvement, so that they can strive for better futures.
Thank you for continuing to believe that we can improve the lives of Chicagoans- One step. One mile at a time.
We are truly honored to have you and our Marathon Charity Team as partners in our work to promote health and fitness in our city’s youth.
