January 11, 2013
EVENT DATE: May 05, 2013
On May 5, 2013 Communities In Schools of Pittsburgh-Allegheny County will be participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon “Run For A Reason Charity Program”. This will be the first year Communities In Schools will be participating in this program which raises funds for local and national charities. So we really need your help!
We are seeking donations in support of runners who will compete in the Marathon to raise funds to support our mission of surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Communities In Schools partners with schools to address children’s unmet needs providing the link between educators and the community. The result: teachers are free to teach, and students – many in jeopardy of dropping out – have the opportunity to focus on learning.
Communities In Schools of Pittsburgh-Allegheny County is a non-profit dropout prevention organization that is an affiliate of the nation's largest stay-in-school network. Through our In-school programs, After-school programs, and Alternative Learning Academies, Communities In Schools connects students and their families to critical community resources, tailored to individual needs. Partnering with school districts throughout Allegheny County, Communities In Schools serves nearly 1000 young people and their families every year. Nationally, Communities In Schools has become our country's leading dropout prevention organization.
You can help us meet the needs of our vulnerable children and youth by making a donation in support of a particular runner in the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon. Runners in the Marathon can also make a donation and get donations from their family and friends. We are setting goals for Marathon runners who run for our youth:
Supporting Level ($250) - provides gas for the school van to transport students for one month.
Empowering Level ($500) - provides a year of counseling & life skill development for one academy student.
Achieving Level ($1,000) - scholarships one after school student.
Succeeding Level ($2,000 - scholarships one formerly dropped out student towards earning a high school diploma.
Any amount donated will also be recognized as contributing to the Marathon’s overall 2013 amount for charity. The youth we serve throughout Allegheny County need your help. Please consider donating to Communities In Schools of Pittsburgh-Allegheny County for the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon! Thank you!
