I am walking for my Beautiful son CLAUDIO, as well as all the beautiful people this horrible neurological disorder is affecting.
Join #TEAMCLAUDIO and walk with us on September 21, 2014.
You can also help Fundraise for our team whatever you can towards our goal.
Help #TEAMCLAUDIO raise awareness, empowerment and education about seizure disorders.
Claudio had his first seizure when he was 10 yrs old. It was the most unimaginable nightmare for us.
For Claudio it was one more trial and tribulation he would have to endure.
Claudio was born a healthy thriving baby boy. His first bump in the road was a diagnosis of Craniosynostosis, this is a birth defect in which one or more of the joints between the bones close prematurely. The top and back fontanelles of his skull were completely fused; at 8 weeks old he underwent surgery involving removing the fused bones to allow room for his brain to grow.
Our blessing was that his surgery was successful and the next 7 years of Claudio’s life was active, flourishing and happy. His milestones were met, his development and abilities thrived with promising potential for a healthy life.
When Claudio was 7 yrs. old his balance, coordination, cognitive abilities, speech and language was noticeably changing with regression.
His regression was very slow and hard for anyone to notice Claudio had any disabilities.
At 10 the worst happened; his first seizure. And with every one after that a little bit more of his healthy childhood was taken away.
Claudio is diagnosed with Epilepsy and Brain Atrophy, however Claudio still does not have a Formal Diagnosis for why he suffers from these debilitating conditions. Over the years Claudio spent a good part of his days in a therapeutic setting to slow down the progression of the affects that took over Claudio's abilities and even strengthen him, however with every Seizure came major set backs. Claudio is now 18 years old; a once healthy, happy and active boy now requires 100% assistance for every minute of his daily routine.
We are hopeful that the worst of his seizures are finally over. He has encountered many trials and tribulations but he is determined to keep fighting back.
“With Struggle comes Strength”
Claudio’s courage has taught us - Being Courageous does not mean you lack fear, being Courageous simply means You Face Your Fear.
So much is left that is still unexplained and unaware.
#TEAMCLAUDIO will go the distance with Epilepsy Foundation - Metropolitan New York, “Into The Light” for Epilepsy Awareness.
NO ONE SHOULD LOOSE ANOTHER MOMENT TO SEIZURES!
