ORGANIZER: Clearwater Initiative
EVENT: NYC Half 2013
EVENT DATE: Mar 17, 2013
Hey guys- Welcome to my fundraising page! As you may or may not know, my roomate Nadia and I are planning to run the NYC Half Marathon on March 17!! As two novice runners, we decided to keep ourselves motivated by pledging to run and raise money for a cause we both care about- ClearWater Initiative. This non-profit orginization helps to provide simple and sustainable solutions for clean water in conflict-affected areas of northen Uganda. Our goal is to raise $1000 each by the time March 17th rolls around, and in doing so, the members of the ClearWater Initiative team will have raised enough money to fund the building of three fully functional wells in a small town in Northern Uganda! This NGO is legit (all profits go directly to the ClearWater Initiative- no middle men), and as the issue of access to clean water becomes more prevelant as our climate changes, there is no better time to be proactive than now. Please donate- any amount of money donated is appreciated :). Just think- all you have to do is donate some money, and then feel great about yourself for helping out your fellow mankind. We're the ones who have to get in shape! For more info on ClearWater Initiative, visit their website at: http://www.clearwaterinitiative.org
Thanks for taking the time to read this and please donate!!!

ClearWater Initiative is thrilled to be an official charity partner for the 2013 ING NYC Half Marathon! Team ClearWater will raise funding for three wells, which will provide safe, dependable and nearby sources of clean water for over 1,500 people in Uganda.
ClearWater's mission is to provide simple, sustainable sources of clean water to communities in northern Uganda. Less than 60% of people in this region have access to clean water within two kilometers of their home. ClearWater Initiative addresses this need through the construction of wells and protected springs along with sanitation, hygeine and water source maintenance training.
ClearWater's projects reduce disease and time spent in search of clean water - often up to 6 hours per day - and provide villagers with the skills and training to lead healthier and more productive lives.
