Dear Friends and Family,
On October 20th, I am planning on running the Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C. as part of Team ClearWater Initiative. ClearWater Initiative was founded in 2007 by my close friend Benjamin Sklaver, an American soldier deployed to the Horn of Africa to work with refugees and internally displaced civilians returning to their homes following nearly two decades of Civil War. Upon witnessing the lack of clean water in remote communities and the relatively minimal resources necessary to greatly impact an entire community, Ben founded ClearWater to address this basic human need.
This October will also mark four years since Ben was killed while serving his country in Afghanistan. Since his passing, we have worked hard to fulfill his vision of compassion and hope for those whose lives are challenged by strife and uncertainty. Our goal has remained the same: to bring water and, in turn, health and opportunity, to those far less fortunate
ClearWater Initiative is dedicated to promoting simple, sustainable solutions for the provision of clean water to populations in need. We fund both established and innovative clean water solutions, including borehole repairs, protected springs, and drilling wells, with an emphasis on holistic community mobilization and training.
As President of the Board of ClearWater who visited our projects in Uganda first hand in 2011, I take enormous pride being part of ClearWater Initiative. However, as we continue to expand our work and the reach of projects, we require numerous facets to continue our work, including leadership, creativity, determination, commitment and financial support.
At this time, I kindly ask you to make any donation possible toward my 10-mile journey in support of ClearWater’s programs. My goal is to raise a total of $5,000 and I would be grateful for your support.
