Through its unconventional approach to projects, Common Impact creates opportunities for engagement that allow individuals and companies to discover their potential as community champions to solve social problems. They do this by pairing teams of corporate employees in a specific business discipline (e.g., technology, marketing, or human resources) to nonprofit organizations in need of their assistance. Projects include building a database, creating a brochure, or developing an employee performance evaluation system.
Their model is very appealing to someone like me. By taking real world functionality and applying it to a high level towards nonprofit organizations that need them the most, Common Impact is adding tremendous value to the nonprofit sector!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:
I've been an endurance athlete (on and off) for the past 28 years. Starting out as a cyclist at seventeen, I began doing triathlons in the late 80's. To date, I've participated in hundreds of triathlons, 4 open marathons, 3 ironman and about 20 half ironman competitions--YES, I'VE DONE A LOT OF RACING!!!
I find a ton of value in using my passion as an athlete to support a great charity like Common Impact. SO, I'm lacing up my running shoes to clock in another 26.2 on Boston's historic, grueling, absolutely exhilarating course. Common Impact is doing such amazing work to strengthen nonprofits in our communities; I just HAD to commit towards raising funds for this top-notch organization.
