THE STORY:

I worked for Common Impact when I lived in Boston, before I moved to Seattle - so I know them well! CI is an exceptional nonprofit run by a fantastic group of people. Working with this team opened my eyes to so many things. At first, I knew very little about the challenges faced every day by nonprofits whose business it is to help people on very small budgets. No matter what their mission - to help the homeless find housing and jobs, match young kids to a mentor, or guide low-income high school students to higher education - nonprofits almost always lack basic infrastructure. Common Impact has figured out how to solve this problem cost effectively, and their work is multiplied many times over in the communities they serve.

Net result: nonprofits get more of what they need without having to divert resources away from direct services, and more people's lives are changed for the better. End of story!

Thank you for helping Common Impact fulfill its mission of strengthening high-potential nonprofits in our local communities!

About Me

I live in Seattle and took up running a few years back because I wanted to get outside during the gray months and try to enjoy the beauty of the Northwest. Many of the people I've gotten to know here are runners; now I often run with friends to keep it fun. I travel a lot for work and also to visit my widely scatttered family. One thing I love about running is that you can take it  anywhere and explore the places you visit on foot. Running also balances out my addiction to baked goods!

About Common Impact

Founded in 2000, our mission is two-fold: to help high-potential nonprofit organizations better meet their missions by connecting them to a community of engaged, skilled professionals; and to return business value to companies seeking unconventional solutions to engaging and developing tomorrow's leaders.

Common Impact is a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Cambridge, MA that connects skilled professionals from global companies to high-potential local nonprofits.

  • Thirty-three percent of Common Impact’s volunteers remain engaged with their nonprofit client after the project ends as ongoing volunteers, donors and board members
  • The percentage of critical benchmarks met by our clients typically increases from 33 percent to 72 percent as a result of the work completed by Common Impact, and ninety-six percent of our clients report that their volunteer teams significantly impact their ability to meet their mission

MAKING STRONG COMMUNITIES YOUR BUSINESS

Common Impact is proud to announce its participation in John Hancock’s Non-Profit Program which includes invitational entries for the 2012 BOSTON MARATHON.
