Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, running has turned into a passion of mine. I have completed a few half-marathons so it was inevitable what was coming next. On April 16th, 2012 I am lacing up my sneakers and running my first full marathon; The Boston Marathon- the most prestigious and historic marathon of all time. It is hard to believe that a year ago I could barely run 3 miles and now I am aiming for 26.2 miles, a feat that many people think is impossible!
I searched for a non-profit that I believe in and whose vision would help me run, walk or crawl over the finish line. I decided to team up with Community Servings, a non-profit organization in Boston, that delivers meals to the homes of those who are critically ill. The "little kitchen that could" helps 775 people five days a week who are homebound with acute, life-threatening illnesses. They deliver over 390,000 free meals annually and have never missed a delivery day in 19 years.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for Community Servings. Any amount that you can afford to donate will be greatly appreciated and will help Community Servings continue to grow. For every $25 raised, Community Servings will be able to provide a week of hearty and nourishing home-delivered meals to a neighbor struggling with a life-threatening illness.
I'm running for those who can't and to prove to myself that I can accomplish something I never thought possible. You have my word that I will cross that finish line on April 16 (no matter how long it takes!) and we can say that together we did our part to help feed the ones in need!
Please show your support by donating here.
Of course, your good wishes, hugs and high fives as I cross the finish line will also be graciously accepted! Hope to see you on April 16th!
Thank you so much for your generosity in advance, it means more than you know.
