BENEFITING: HOWARD HOSPITAL FOUNDATION INC
Yes, it is that time of year again, when I write to let you know about my efforts to support the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center (CMCRC) and my participation in Team Conquer, a fundraising and volunteer branch of CMCRC. Several individuals have asked me when I was going to get my fundraising page set up for this year, as I am behind the curve quite a bit (I did my first TC race of the year, the Columbia Iron Girl Half Marathon, two months ago!). Something has been holding me back from doing what I'm doing right now, writing these words. As I type this, my fingers feel ridiculously heavy, as though they feel the weight that I've been trying to ignore. But I know what I'm doing and what I have to say should -- and must -- be said.
You see, Team Conquer and the CMCRC have become incredibly dear to me this past year. I lost a friend to breast cancer earlier this year, and though I know she had an absolutely amazing support system and she was at peace in the end, I regret every day that I did not point her to CMCRC. I'm sure my friend and CMCRC would have mutually benefitted from this connection. My heart (and, at the moment, my fingers as well) are very heavy with this remorse. I vow from here-onwards to do all I can to share the blessings of CMCRC, the support and services they provide, and their absolutely amazing staff and volunteers.
Below you will find my more lengthy description of Team Conquer and CMCRC. If you've read all this before, just know that I very much believe in this group. I've seen firsthand how wonderful they are, and dearly hope to reach my fundraising goal. This year, I've broadened my involvement in TC events to include the aforementioned IG Half-Marathon (which was FANTASTIC!!! added bonus: CMCRC is the designated beneficiary of this race), as well as the May 17th Girls on the Run 5k (AMAZING event; learn more here http://gotrcentralmd.org). I'm doing the Columbia Iron Girl Triathlon on August 18th (3rd time!), which is what I'm training for now.
This year, I have challenged myself to raise $1200. ALL of the funds I raise go directly to the Center.
Every single donation helps!! IF everyone reading this would simply donate $10, then I could easily reach my goal.
And most importantly -- whether you're sending good thoughts or giving $10 (or $100!) --- THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Because no one should ever have to face cancer alone, there is the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center (CMCRC) at Howard County General Hospital. Many patients who come to the Center face challenging, complex issues of having to navigate through treatments, a myriad of technical medical options and decisions, and have to deal with aesthetic difficulties, such as losing their hair, eyelashes & eyebrows, as well as mental and emotional stress, all while still needing to function day-to-day at work, at home, at school, and trying to care or provide for their children and families. TEAM CONQUER is a group of inspiring men & women (many of them cancer survivors), who serve as ambassadors for living healthy and active lives. We also help raise awareness of -- and funds for -- the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center.
