EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
Many of you know my love of running and dream of qualifying for the Boston Marathon. It’s been a personal fitness goal that started in high school when I ran my first full marathon in Los Angeles, CA through an organization known as Students Run LA (SRLA). This year after 5 years of living in the Boston area and after 20 years of running, I’m realizing my dream to run the Boston Marathon for the first time in 2013!
Yet, it’s not merely a personal goal but one that I’d like to share with you to help others and a good cause. I’m fundraising for a nonprofit Boston organization known as Crittenton Women’s Union. This organization helps low-income women and their families reach economic self-sufficiency. Crittenton’s mission is one that personally resonates with me as a child of a parent who’s faced similar challenges of finding her own financial independence.
I feel blessed and fortunate to meet like-minded runners in Boston. I found out about Crittenton through a work colleague who invited me to her weekly group runs with some of the people who work at Crittenton. Early this year, I began training for the LA Marathon and I discovered the chance to run Boston through one of them. It feels like a dream coming true and I hope that you’ll share in my monumental experience by making a donation.
