BENEFITING: Old St Patricks Church
ORGANIZER: Old St Patricks Church
I ran my 3rd Chicago Marathon a week ago Sunday in 3:49, 3 minutes faster that last year for this great Charity Team, Crossroads Runners. Through the training I have received as part of the Crossroads Runners, I am humbled to have been fast enough to have qualified and registered to run the 2014 Boston Marathon.
Running for a Charity is a double bonus. Greatly enhanced fitness is a wonderful byproduct of the running. Fundraising for a Charity that greatly enhances the lives of people trying to better themselves greatly enhances my spirit and, more importantly, their lives.
Please overlook my very late start on my fundrasing goal for the organizations below and contribute what you can.
Crossroads Runners raise funds for The Crossroads Group that supports non-profits to assist Chicago's at-risk youth, homeless and unemployed with targeted programs, resources and service initiatives. Organizations supported include Harmony Hope and Healing (www.harmonyhopeandhealing.org), Horizons for Youth (horizons-for-youth.org) and Career Transitions Center (www.ctcchicago.org). The Cara Program (www.thecaraprogram.org), a highly successful organization providing job training for the homeless (74% job retainage after one year), is an alumnus of the Crossroads Group.
