Team Devin & Cali-Fight Like A Girl
Organized by: Robert Maifert
The goal of this Fundraiser is to hopefully raise enough money to help my family and I through many medical expenses and everyday difficult living expenses. So... last year (December of 2013) my family found out that our beautiful daughter Cali was diagnosed with JMML Leukemia. She was 3 years old and it was devastating. Not only was it cancer but in her case it has been found to be a very rare form that hasn't been seen before. Doctors are stumped and her survival chance is only at a painful 50%. Currently Cali has to go in every 6 weeks for a bone marrow draw in order to monitor the cancer. Now 8 months later we are still monitoring Cali's cancer. On top of finding out our daughters horrible condition, June of this year (2014) my Fiancé Devin was diagnosed with a extremely rare Sarcoma Breast tissue cancer. Only a few cases ever recorded. Devin is only 20 years old and now faces the horrible procedures of an attempt to fight and hopefully cure the cancer. Devin is currently at stage 3 of 4. She is set to have a mastectomy and radiation treatment following immediately after. 5 days a week for the next 7-8 weeks she must endure the awful treatments of radiation. Devin also is only at a painful 50% survival rate. If the cancer returns within 1-3 years (if the surgery and radiation do not rid of the cancer) she only has a 3 year life expectancy. There currently is no cure for her type of cancer. And we pray everyday for one. Not only all the stress that myself and my two favorite girls are going through, we are also struggling with the financial part. Hospital bills and Doctor appointments are adding up and insurance isn't covering nearly enough. My family and I plan to use the money that you have gratefully donated to us to pay many expenses. I will list a few of them for you to see. Medical expenses, surgery's, therapy's-both physical and mental, cancer treatments-such as radiation, chemotherapy, and blood & bone marrow transfusions, many back medical bills, doctor and hospital visits, prescription expenses, prosthetic breast, difficult everyday living expenses, transportation expenses-such as gas and possible vehicle break down expenses, essential living oils (also for the treatment of cancer and overall good health). That is only a portion of the struggles.
So please every dollar counts. And my family and I thank you unconditionally for your help with our everyday struggle towards the financial and the fight of Devin and Cali's cancer.
