Michelle grew up with juvenile diabetes and from age 10 and took insulin shots. She had diabetes for 30 years when her kidneys started to fail.
Michelle went on dialysis when her kidneys failed, and was on dialysis from 2002 to 2006. Treatments were 3 days a week lasting 4 hours per treatment.
UCSF called her on April 30th 2006 in late afternoon. May 1st at 1am she had surgery to replace her kidney and pancreas- her doner was a teenage boy who had a fatal car accident.
We are running to celebrate Michelle's anniversary -9 years today, and the teenage boy who gave her a new life...
