I have always had a passion for helping children with autism and special needs. As an avid runner and athlete, I am combining one of my favorite pursuits with a cause close to my heart by becoming a team member of Drive4Rebecca 2012 NYC Triathlon. I will swim, bike, and run in the July 8th event and donate half of my sponsorship donations to Montgomery Academy in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, a school for children with special needs.
My goal is to create awareness of the increasing number of children diagnosed with autism every day and to highlight the dire need for more research to find ways to help these children. Montgomery Academy is a full time alternative school providing specialized instruction including therapeutic services to students with social, emotional and educational challenges that cannot be met in the public school system. For more information on the Academy please visit the school's website at www.montgomeryacademyonline.org.
I would like to thank everyone for supporting me in the triathlon as well as your generosity in helping me raise money for Montgomery Academy, which I know is making a major difference in the lives of these children.
