So last year, when I let people know I was running a marathon for Every Mother Counts, people thought I was a bit crazy. Myself included. You may also recall me saying over and over that I was a "one and done" kind of girl. And yet, here I am.
The experience of running last year was amazing. But we weren't just running for the heck of it. We were running for all the women around the world who get up, in labor, to contemplate their own treks. So in lacing up the shoes again, we are truly trying to make it so that more women DON'T have to do that. For as little as $3, we can make sure that a woman in labor gets a ride to a skilled provider rather than having to walk there herself.
So that's why I have to run again. Because 100% of what we raise this year will go to this sort of program.
I know a lot of you supported me last year too- and thank you so much for that. I hate to come knocking again but if you're able to support me again I'd really appreciate it. Even if you cant support me financially, think about maybe buying a shirt, going out for your own 5k run that day and letting folks in YOUR circle know about distance as a barrier.
