THE STORY:

Our friends in New York City and New Jersey need our help!

We've all seen the pictures and footage of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy in New York City, New Jersey and surrounding areas.  Truly heartbreaking.

In just a couple of days, I'll be seeing it in person, because I'm headed to NYC to take part in the NYC Marathon.

I thought about canceling my entry, as this race is always such a celebration of the human spirit.  But I've decided to go and lend my support, no matter how small, by raising money to help.  That's my way of honoring the amazing spirit and resilience of the people of New York City and New Jersey.

PLEASE HELP by donating.  Even if it's just a couple of dollars.  Whatever you can spare.  If you donate at least $26 -  one dollar for each mile I'll be running - I will be glad to honor you (or the name of your loved one) by adding your name to my race-day shirt.   Just be sure to list that person's name in the comments when you make a donation.

All funds raised will be directed to the efforts of the American Red Cross on behalf of the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Team Emerson is named is named in memory of my beloved soulmutt Emerson, a rescue pup from a kill shelter in Los Angeles. He was my mighty running partner and my inspiration to keep going when times get tough.  (That's Emerson with his sister Peggy in the photo below)

Let's help our friends in the Big Apple and beyond! Thanks and dig deep! They need our help!
