EVENT DATE: Jun 28, 2014
Team Emso is sending 10 runners to Kenya to run one of the toughest marathons in the world to raise money for the Tusk Trust. Emso is focused on investing in Emerging Markets and feels strongly about supporting charities that are dedicated to helping the people in those markets. Tusk funds projects across Africa to reduce poverty, improve education and protect wildlife.
Tusk currently supports 53 field projects in 18 African countries that work to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education (over 72,000 students attend schools and education centres supported by Tusk) amongst rural communities, as well as to protect the wildlife they live alongside. As the ever-expanding human population and its demand for more land brings increasing conflict with wildlife, Tusk’s aim is to forge an inextricable link between the preservation of Africa’s natural heritage and the future of its land, culture and people.
Tusk’s 15th annual Safaricom Marathon and Half Marathon will take place at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, 140 miles north of Nairobi, on Saturday 28th June 2014. Organized by Tusk and supported by Safaricom, this fundraising event will host 1,000 runners from over 20 different countries.
We hope you will join us in supporting the efforts of Tusk. We have logged over 5,000km of training this year for this event, so we are taking it very seriously!
