This is my second year racing and fundraising for the Robin Hood Foundation, and I'm very excited about this opportunity as last year our team of 25 people managed to raise over $250,000 with donations from many of you. So, I'm back again to race this summerr and to ask for your donations to a great cause. For those of you who are not familiar with the Robin Hood Foundation, here is a link to the home page ( http://www.robinhood.org/about ) . Please check out this page as it goes into greater detail about some of the very poweful programs that Robin Hood sponsors.
Here are few bullet points about the success of Robin Hood with various programs int he city to give you an idea about the purpose here:
- 92% of people who enter a Rohin Hood shelter do not return to shelters.
- Robin Hood programs increase the chances of passing the GED by 75%
- Robin Hood's job training programs are two times as effective as others, yielding higher job retention rates and better salaries than other city programs.
So rest assured, that Robin Hood makes sure your donations, 100% of which go directly to the charities, are effective dollars. Your donations will make a difference.
My goal is to raise $12,500 again this year, and I've started the effort with a $1,250 donation of my own. I will be doing 2 half ironmans, one full ironman, and a long distance team running relay race over the couse of this summer and fall.
Thank you in advance for your consideration in donating towards this great cause !
