BENEFITING: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
I've always wanted to run a marathon, and I knew it had to be Boston. Growing up, my family camped out on the marathon route every year to watch thousands of runners (and my dad, Moe the Marathoner!) tackle one of the toughest and most prestigious marathons around. It became a family tradition, and remains one of my favorite days of the year.
For me, this year will be a bit different. Instead of cheering for the runners along the course (from inside a bar or 2...) I'll be taking on 26.2 miles myself. It’ll be my first marathon, and my first marathon Monday without a mimosa. It feels crazy! But I'm incredibly excited, nervous, overwhelmed, inspired, slightly terrified, and ready for the challenge.
I'm very proud to be raising money for Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. About 8 years ago, my mother was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor behind her eye, and was treated at MEEI. My mother and I spent many long days together at this hospital, and thanks to their amazing care she remains cancer free today. It was an incredibly difficult time for my family, and I'm thrilled to give back to the organization that saved my mother's eyesight, and life.
In addition to supporting a wonderful cause, this gives you all an excuse to take the day off on April 16th and come watch me suffer/succeed. While I’m showing this marathon who’s boss, I hope you’ll enjoy a beer in my honor. It would only be right. And please- don’t forget to meet me at the finish line with a cold one in hand (I’m looking at you Dad.)
Thank you for all of your support and encouragement in advance! Without your help I would never be able to achieve this life-long goal, and support Mass Eye and Ear. Any contribution is a HUGE help! Please email me at email@example.com if you have questions, or need to make a donation by check.
Thanks again! See you on Boylston!

At Mass. Eye and Ear, our focus is your quality of life. We treat everything that has to do with the eyes, ears, nose, throat, head and neck - so that you and those you care about can get more out of the world around us.
Our physicians are more than just specialists; each is also a researcher and a teacher. These doctors don't just apply the latest advances in medicine; they invent them. Together with Mass. Eye and Ear scientists, they work tirelessly to understand the root causes of diseases that both take people's lives and rob too many others of their quality of life.
Every dollar raised makes it possible for Mass. Eye and Ear to excel in clinical care, research and medical education. That, in turn, allows us to provide the finest specialty care to every person who comes through our door and to share our knowledge in order to help patients around the world.
Thank you for your support.
