ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
Bill joins Team Eye and Ear to celebrate his 50th Birthday and to continue to advocate his personal mission of No Barriers. Bill is one of approximately 15,000 - 20,000 people in the U.S. with Usher’s Syndrome, a disease that progressively robs people of both their hearing and vision. There are no known treatments. Bill has lost 85% of his hearing from birth and in his late teens began to experience night blindness and vision loss. Despite this, Bill travels the world as a deaf-blind adventurer and advocate. He completed climbs of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Quandary, competed in the World T.E.A.M Sports, and hosted the 2011 No Barriers USA Summit. Last summer Bill led a group of 17 hearing impaired and deaf kids from around the U.S. on an adventure trip of a lifetime in Colorado.
Bill is raising essential funds for Mass. Eye and Ear to help find a cure for this debilitating condition. He has been a Mass. Eye and Ear patient for the past 20 years. Mass. Eye and Ear is home to one of the world's largest private vision research facilities.

At Mass. Eye and Ear, our focus is your quality of life. We treat everything that has to do with the eyes, ears, nose, throat, head and neck - so that you and those you care about can get more out of the world around us.
Our physicians are more than just specialists; each is also a researcher and a teacher. These doctors don't just apply the latest advances in medicine; they invent them. Together with Mass. Eye and Ear scientists, they work tirelessly to understand the root causes of diseases that both take people's lives and rob too many others of their quality of life.
Every dollar raised makes it possible for Mass. Eye and Ear to excel in clinical care, research and medical education. That, in turn, allows us to provide the finest specialty care to every person who comes through our door and to share our knowledge in order to help patients around the world.
Thank you for your support.
