BENEFITING: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
I've committed to run the 2013 Boston Marathon, which will take place on April 15th. My goal is to raise $5000 to support the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology ("ears, nose, and throat") at Mass. Eye & Ear Infirmary, in Boston, MA. As you may know, I'm now in practice as an attending physician who specializes in Pediatric Otolaryngology. This took many years of training! I spent the 6th and final year of my training at MEEI with Dr. Christopher Hartnick. Not only was I able to learn and perform surgeries to treat children with complex medical conditions, but I was also fortunate to work alongside some of the most caring individuals in health care. Parents from all over the world came to Boston so that we could have the honor of caring for their children.
A portion of the funds raised will also support Operation Airway, a combined effort of Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary and Massachusetts General Hospital. I was able to participate in Operation Airway's most recent mission to Quito, Ecuador in June 2012. The most unique aspect of this global mission is that we taught a team of local doctors, nurses, and staff how to perform surgery care for children with complex airway problems. Please visit the Operation Airway website to learn more.
All donations are tax deductible and there is no minimum. I would greatly appreciate your support in helping me to reach my goal!
At Mass. Eye and Ear (http://www.masseyeandear.org/) our focus is your quality of life. We treat everything that has to do with the eyes, ears, nose, throat, head and neck - so that you and those you care about can get more out of the world around us.
Our physicians are more than just specialists; each is also a researcher and a teacher. These doctors don't just apply the latest advances in medicine; they invent them. Together with Mass. Eye and Ear scientists, they work tirelessly to understand the root causes of diseases that both take people's lives and rob too many others of their quality of life.
Every dollar raised makes it possible for Mass. Eye and Ear to excel in clinical care, research and medical education. That, in turn, allows us to provide the finest specialty care to every person who comes through our door and to share our knowledge in order to help patients around the world.
