I am Running my First Marathon in Boston in 2016 for the Amazing Mass Team Eye & Ear!
I first heard about this wonderful hospital and all that it does for its patients almost a year ago when my friend, Laura Beth, her mother was in need of surgery on her ear. She had been battling with hearing loss for quite some time now and it was just causing her a lot of stress and discomfort. She chose to come to Mass Eye and Ear and the amazing staff here was able to perform the necessary surgery on her ear. Thankfully, everything went very well and she was able to regain her hearing again!
Another experience that I went through that made me want to run for this team was when my cousin, Jesse Zorski, completely lost all of his hearing a couple summers ago. He was unfortunately born with severe hearing problems and thus has had to wear hearing aids all of his life. It wasn't until 2 summers ago that out of nowhere he completely lost all of his hearing. As a family, we were all very supportive and ready to learn sign language with him. However, towards the end of that summer he went in for cochlear implant surgery and thankfully everything went smoothly and he is now able to hear again!
It is because of these two experiences that I am so excited to say that I am running for Team Mass Eye and Ear in this year's Boston Marathon. This amazing hospital and their wonderful staff have done so many incredible things to help those in need of eye and ear care.
My goal is to raise a minimum of $11,000 for the team this year. Any and all donations will be not only greatly appreciated by me but just think that every dollar raised will be able to go towards future research or care for helping out a child or adult in need of their services. We all probably take these two senses of ours for granted sometimes and it would come as a very unfortunate circumstance if we were ever to lose either of them. Thankfully there is this fantastic hospital full of great doctors, physicians, nurses and researchers who are continuing to further their research for future patient's everyday along with being ready to assist anyone who steps foot into their lives.
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read my story and hear about this wonderful hospital. I will keep everyone updated on my status as I embark on this incredible journey to 1 run a marathon and 2 to raise this money for such an amazing cause.
