BENEFITING: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
We are honored and so excited to be back on Team Eye and Ear to run the 2016 Boston Marathon! Having the opportunity to give back and support Mass. Eye and Ear is very important to us because the funds raised make such a difference to so many patients and their families who are affected by head and neck cancer.
In April 2014, Larry was diagnosed with neck cancer and became a patient of Dr. Deschler at Mass. Eye and Ear. He could not have been in better hands! Larry had surgery at Mass. Eye and Ear in May 2014 to remove the tumor in his neck and then went through seven weeks of radiation and chemotherapy at Mass General Hospital. Thanks to Dr. Deschler and everyone at Mass. Eye and Ear, and to his doctors at Mass General, we are beyond happy to say that today he is cancer free! He continues to go back to Mass. Eye and Ear for routine scans and will be a lifelong patient there.
Having the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon for Team Eye and Ear a second time is just as rewarding and meaningful as the first. We are running not only for Larry, but to show support to all head and neck cancer patients and their families in hopes of helping to find a cure. We can't say thank you enough to our donors from last year, it was your generosity and support that got us to the finish line. With your support again, all of the funds donated will go directly to help Dr. Deschler and the rest of the head and neck cancer department at Mass. Eye and Ear in their research of improved and effective cancer care and reconstruction. We are asking you to consider donating any amount so that we can continue to help patients and families of the Mass. Eye and Ear community. No donation is too small, it all makes a difference!
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We appreciate all of your love and support throughout this journey!
