EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
Welcome to my page. I thank you for visiting.
I am beyond excited to be running the 120th Boston Marathon for Team Eye and Ear in support of research and treatment of hearing loss. I had a phenomenal experience running for Team Eye and Ear last year and I am looking forward to another great training season.
My family has lived with hearing loss for several generations. My mother, her mother, and her uncle all have faced moderate-to-severe hearing loss relatively early in their lives. I have been a patient at Eye and Ear and have been told that my hearing is not as strong as it should be for my age and that I will have moderate hearing loss within a decade, necessitating hearing aids or other intervention.
I have seen firsthand the effects on people with hearing deficiencies, ranging from a lack of confidence and avoidance of interaction in groups to personal safety issues. I want to raise money to help those with hearing loss live more securely and if I am able to amplify that help by running the absolute-number-one race on my list, well, I could not be more excited. And I am sure my great-uncle, who has finished Boston many times, would be pleased.
I hope you will consider making a donation to Team Eye and Ear to support my goal to raise $10,000 as I battle through the wonderfully-rough training season known as winter in Boston. We can't have another winter like last year, right? I mean, really.
I look forward to seeing and hearing you support our entire team on April 18th!
I appreciate very much your time.
