I encourage you to watch the video at the end of the pictures to learn more about my story.
On April 18th, 2016, we will once again join Team Mass. Eye and Ear in running the 120th Boston Marathon. In addition to it being my 8th Boston Marathon running with Team Eye and Ear it is the 10 year anniversary of my accident which changed my vision and changed my life. After my accident I was told I would never walk again. My recovery from the spinal cord injury was a direct result of advances in medical research and technology. In the 10 years since my accident, MEEI has been my greatest hope of technologies and medical treatments to help cure or improve my vision.
For almost 2 years now we have accompanied Riva, our certified therapy dog, has been making pet therapy visits to MEEI. We have been able to meet with so many patients and families who have been aided, cured and cared for by the staff at MEEI. The scope of their work goes well beyond helping people with visual impairment to treat people with hearing impairment, vestibular dysfunction, head and neck cancer to name a few.
Since 2009, I have raised more than $115,000 to benefit research at Mass. Eye and Ear for those who have lost their sight due to accidents or diseases. With your support we hope to raise another $20,000 this year. Please help me achieve my goal by donating to Team Mass. Eye and Ear.
Massachusetts Eye and Ear clinicians and scientists are driven by a mission to find cures for blindness, deafness and diseases of the head and neck.
Each year almost 300,000 people - adults and children - from more than 80 countries seek care at Mass. Eye and Ear and more than 20,000 of them undergo life-changing surgery.
Mass. Eye and Ear is home to the world's largest vision and hearing research centers, offering hope and healing to patients everywhere through discovery and innovation.
