BENEFITING: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
This is the Boston Marathon fundraising page for Grace MacDonald and Shannon Smith! We are so honored and grateful to have been given the opportunity to participate in such an incredible event, and to do so with Mass Eye and Ear. This is the first marathon either of us will have run, and we are incredibly excited and motivated. We decided to run for Mass Eye and Ear because we have experienced the tremendous impact this hospital, and all Boston hospitals, have had on so many of our close friends and family members. We are running in honor of all of our loved ones who have battled with cancer, and specifically Rick Rindini and Megan Sheehy. Rick is one of Shannon's close relatives who passed away after battling with head and throat cancer. Rick received his cancer treatment at Mass Eye and Ear, and we are forever grateful for all the help and support they provided. Megan is one of Grace's close friends who passed away at the age of 14 after a courageous and inspiring fight against bone cancer. We are incredibly humbled to be able to run in honor of such strong individuals who inspired us to test our limits and conquer the 26.2 mile race. We each must raise $8,000 for Mass Eye and Ear, but we are hoping to surpass our goal. Any little bit helps, and we are so appreciative of your commitment to the research and innovation that Mass Eye and Ear is pursuing. Thank you!
