BENEFITING: FIRST DESCENTS
EVENT DATE: Jul 10, 2010
While all the riders will take great personal satisfaction in completing the Triple Bypass, we will take even greater pride in our contribution to the First Descents cancer foundation as our biking challenge is nothing compared to the challenges faced by those for whom we are riding. If you have reached this page, you probably already know about First Descents. If not, click the link above to go to our Crowdrise First Descents page or go to the First Descents website at www.firstdescents.org. In short, First Descents runs outdoor adventure camps (we call it "adventure therapy") for young adult cancer survivors. When you think First Descents, think American Cancer Society meets Outward Bound meets Make-A-Wish. It is unique, empowering, life-affirming and it NEEDS YOUR MONEY!
In 2009, First Descents hosted 9 week-long outdoor-adventure programs for over 150 young adults with cancer. In 2010, we have committed to 15 camps for over 225 young adults with cancer. We want to serve 1000 campers per year by 2015. Please reach into your wallet, bank-account, kid's piggy bank and help us get there!
Thanks so much!
OH, we forgot the fun part. We have really hip and cool Team FD men's and women's bike gear this year. If you donate $150, we'll give you some arm warmers. For $250, you get arm and leg warmers. For $500, you get a jersey. For $750, you get a jersey, arm warmers and leg warmers. For $1000, you get the whole kit and kaboodle and we'll blow you a big internet kiss! For more than $1000 . . . well, we'll think of something good to add to the mix. Most importantly, we'll give you the knowledge that YOU have just changed a life.
