Where Your Money Goes:
MJFF's Translational Focus
Since 2005, over 90 percent of our funding has been targeted to translate basic discoveries into new Parkinson's treatments. The Foundation has no endowment; every dollar we raise is immediately deployed to advance research with the best chance of leading to new PD therapies and, ultimately, a cure.
How MJFF Increases Efficiency
The Michael J. Fox Foundation keeps a sharp eye on expenses and strives to maintain a low overhead. That's why, since inception, 85 cents of every dollar raised has gone straight to the Foundation's scientific effort.
How MJFF Targets Resources for Patient Impact
Not only the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, the Foundation has also grown to become a critical convener for the field. We forge relationships with and among academia, industry, government agencies and other private funders. Every year we bring together hundreds of leading scientists from around the globe for meetings and workshops to prioritize research areas with significant leverage and high payoff. These activities provide the comprehensive view of the field we need to inform our strategic approach: identifying and targeting resources to areas with the highest potential impact for patients.
