BENEFITING: MICHAEL J FOX FOUNDATION FOR PARKINSONS RESEARCH
ORGANIZER: Team Fox Louisiana
Hi! I am fundraising for Team Kickin’ Parkinsons because I LOVE the Dastugues and want to find a cure for Parkinson's Disease! Mr. Quentin, Miss Penny, Kaitlin, Margs & Allison are some of the best people I know. As documented by my photos, some of my fondest high school memories took place with the Dastugues; they graciously hosted many "International Nights", took us on private tours of Global Wildlife & to Jazzfest the year it almost got rained out (we left early & Mr. Q took us to see Spiderman instead - we also all bought matching Spiderman t-shirts at the mall because we were soaking wet...and really cool).
My goal is to raise $200 by Saturday, April 4th - which is Race Day for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic. I will sadly NOT be running the Classic, but I WILL be working my tail off! If you love the Classic, or you love me, I would really appreciate any and all donations to this great cause! Side note: I am also very poor right now, so if you make a donation & help me reach my goal of $200, Crowdrise will not charge my credit card anything, thus you are also helping me get out of debt.
Read more about Mr. Quentin below, and thank you in advance for any and all donations!
When Quentin Dastugue was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2010, his first action was to volunteer for a Clinical Trial Study using the Fox Trial Finder. It was during this process that he learned more about the Michael J Fox Foundation and its unrelenting quest to speed a cure of Parkinson’s disease, the world’s second most common degenerative brain disease, impacting nearly 5 million people worldwide. To date, the MJFF has awarded over $400 million in grants and is the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research in the world. For those of us who know and love Quentin, his actions are not surprising as he has always responded to adversity and challenge with dignity, action and a great sense of optimism and hope.
Quentin’s next step was to create Kickin’ Parkinson’s in support of the MJFF joining 1,600 other Team Fox grassroots efforts around the country. In its third year, Kickin’ Parkinson’s became the 3rd highest Team Fox fundraiser in the country, raising over $300,000 in 2014. Due to a grant, 100% of these funds go directly into research for a cure and for medical therapies to alleviate the symptoms for those living with Parkinson’s Disease.
