Kickin’ Parkinsons is proud to be a Charity Partner of the 2015 Crescent City Classic and hope that you will join us as a Charity Runner, Volunteer or Donor. This effort is being led by the Steve Reisig family in honor of Steve’s father, Wilbert and his Grandfather, Wilbert H Reisig, Sr. We hope that other families and friends of loved ones affected by Parkinson’s will consider joining us on April 4th to show their support.
When Quentin Dastugue was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2010, his first action was to volunteer for a Clinical Trial Study using the Fox Trial Finder. It was during this process that he learned more about the Michael J Fox Foundation and its unrelenting quest to speed a cure of Parkinson’s disease, the world’s second most common degenerative brain disease, impacting nearly 5 million people worldwide. To date, the MJFF has awarded over $400 million in grants and is the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research in the world. For those of us who know and love Quentin, his actions are not surprising as he has always responded to adversity and challenge with dignity, action and a great sense of optimism and hope.
Quentin’s next step was to create Kickin’ Parkinson’s in support of the MJFF joining 1,600 other Team Fox grassroots efforts around the country. In its third year, Kickin’ Parkinson’s became the 3rd highest Team Fox fundraiser in the country, raising over $300,000 in 2014. Due to a grant, 100% of these funds go directly into research for a cure and for medical therapies to alleviate the symptoms for those living with Parkinson’s Disease.
See you on April 4th!
