Friends of the Children-Boston (Friends-Boston) creates generational change by engaging children from high-risk communities in 12 years of transformative mentoring relationships. We call the children we serve Achievers to demonstrate our belief in their potential. Our ultimate goal is for Achievers to graduate from high school and succeed in college.
Friends-Boston selects children who face signifant obstacles to attaining an education and provides them with 12 years of comprehensive mentoring and advocacy services, from 1st grade through high school graduation. Achievers receive 20 hours of monthly support from their mentors, or "Friends."
To be a Friend means to:
- Mentor – Provide consistent support, model positive behaviors, teach critical life skills, create trustworthy relationships, and keep promises.
- Advocate – A relentless pursuit of resources and opportunities that will enable Achievers to succeed.
- Lead – Guide and push Achievers to reach their full potential.
Achievers have tremendous potential but need the consistent, long-term support offered by Friends-Boston to overcome the obstacles they face and succeed in school and in life.
