I'm thrilled to annoucne that I am participating in the 2011 NYC Marathon on behalf of the Grassroot Soccer team!
Every day, 7,000 people die of AIDS. No child, parent or loved one should have to endure the pain of HIV/AIDS.
Grassroot Soccer's mission is to shape an AIDS-free generation through the combination of awareness, education and soccer. To date, GRS has graduated nearly 400,000 youth from its programs; the goal is to reach 1 million by 2014.
But this can't be done simply by the outstanding work of GRS volunteers. They need your help and support to continue the cause!
I became hooked on running while training for my first marathon in 2010 (Providence Marathon). Since then, I've wanted to run in the NYC Marathon. Joining the Grassroot Soccer marathon team affords me the perfect opportunity to support the GRS cause and participate in a race through the greatest city in the world (sorry, Boston).
And I need your help! Please consider donating to the Grassroot Soccer marathon team by clicking on the "Donate" button on this page -- every little bit counts. And (less importantly), leave all the encouraging/taunting comments you want as I train. See you in Central Park!
Thanks in advance,
