Dear Family & Friends,
On November 6th this year, I'm running the New York Marathon:
- This will be my first (and likely the last!) marathon I ever do, fulfilling a lifelong ambition.
- I'm training for the marathon 6 days a week, and have been doing so for the past 3 months.
- I have lived in NYC for just 4 months and never in my wildest dreams thought I would be one of the people crazy enough to run 26.2 miles across 5 boroughs.
- I'm both excited & completely and utterly freaked out by the journey ahead of me!
However, all of this is fluff in comparison with the most important fact - which is that I'm running and raising money for the Grassroots Soccer (GRS) Marathon team.
GRS sees a world mobilised through soccer - or football as we rightly call it back in UK - to create an AIDS-free generation. Each day more than 7,000 people die of AIDS, and it's the leading, global cause of death in women. To achieve their mission, GRS continuously improve their innovative HIV prevention and life-skills curriculum, share their program and concept effectively, and utilise the popularity of football to increase their impact.
The GRS mission is to educate, inspire and mobilise youth to stop the spread of HIV. By 2014, GRS plans to reach 1 million youth with life-saving education. To date, they have graduated 393,225 girls and boys from programmes around the world.
I know you will all get many requests to donate to various money-raising events, but if you can dig deep to not only support me, but more importantly, to help me raise money for GRS I would be hugely grateful.
To donate, simply click 'DONATE' at the top of the right-hand page. And thank you for all and any donations you give...it makes such a difference.
See (some of) you at the finish line in Central Park on November 6th. Hopefully!
