Grassroot Soccer NYC Marathon Team
- 50 runners
- 8,000 lives
I'm going for it again - the NYC Marathon! This time I'm running for Grassroot Soccer. I'll be training and running alongside 49 others who share my passion for the Grassroot Soccer mission & vision.
Soccer was and continues to be an important part of my life, and I can't think of a better, more effective medium through which to educate, inspire, and mobilize.
Putting the sport of soccer behind an idea for an AIDS free generation is inspiring -- imagine a world put in motion through soccer to stop the spread of HIV.
Soccer is doubtless an integral part of local cultures across the world, the sport's true power being realized every day in the connections it creates between people. Please join me in supporting those who, through GRS, use soccer as an access point into the communities of Africa, building instant friendships and engaging hard to reach youth by way of a soccer ball and an open field.
I know you have probably received several fundraiser emails but I ask that you take a look at the GRS website (http://www.grassrootsoccer.org/) and consider donating. Giving $5 or $10 is all it takes.
In addition to online gifts, which can be given via the orange DONATE button in the upper right of this page, you can also mail checks to the Organization directly (so long as you include my name in the memo line!): Grassroot Soccer, PO Box 712, Norwich, VT 05055.
Thanks in advance for your support!!

The third Grassroot Soccer NYC Marathon Team is giving HIV the Red Card:
26.2 miles. 50 runners. $200k. 8,000 Lives.
We have the best marathon team out there- not only are they wicked fast and good looking- they're saving lives with every step! And we are honored that they are running for Grassroot Soccer.
Each day more than 7,000 people die of AIDS, and it is the leading cause of death of women globally.
At Grassroot Soccer, we see a world mobilized through soccer to create an AIDS-free generation. Our mission is to educate, inspire and mobilize youth to stop the spread of HIV. By 2014, GRS plans to reach 1 million youth with life-saving education. To date, we've graduated 393,225 girls and boys from our programs globally.
To achieve our mission, we continuously improve our innovative HIV prevention and life-skills curriculum, share our program and concept effectively, and utilize the popularity of soccer to increase our impact.
Please help support Team Grassroot Soccer's fabulous runners by clicking the DONATE button above. Together we can educate communities and stop the spread of HIV.
