BENEFITING: GRASSROOT SOCCER
ORGANIZER: GRASSROOT SOCCER
Hi Family & Friends –
On November 6th, 2011 I am running the NYC Marathon.
Some fun facts:This is going to be my first (and probably only) marathon. I am very excited to run in NYC (especially to be able to run with my good friends)! I still think running 26.2 miles is absolutely NUTS and I am kind of freaked out but super pumped. For my ad sales folks; I still have arm bands, head bands, and scrunchies (which I can take out of retirement) that are still available for sponsorship.
However, the most important fact is that I'm a proud member of the Grassroots Soccer Marathon team and will be raising money to prevent the spread of HIV.
Each day more than 7,000 people die of AIDS, and it is the leading cause of death of women globally. Grassroot Soccer sees a world mobilized through soccer to create an AIDS-free generation. The mission of GRS is to educate, inspire and mobilize youth to stop the spread of HIV.
By the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, GRS plans to reach 1 million youth with life-saving education. To date, they have graduated 393,225 girls and boys from their programs globally. As a member of the GRS marathon team, we are looking to reach 8,000 youth through our efforts.
My request is that you donate to support this marathon journey and, more importantly, support GRS with their mission to save lives through worldwide HIV prevention. You can do so by clicking "DONATE" at the top right of the page. Thanks in advance!
