Dear Family & Friends -
On November 6th, 2011 I am running the NYC Marathon. Some key facts are:
- This will be my first full marathon
- I'm training for the marathon at my home in India during the boiling Delhi summer (up to 110 degrees!!!) and the extremely wet monsoon season
- I lived in NYC for 7 years and never in my wildest dreams thought I could be one of the people crazy enough to run 26.2 miles across 5 boroughs
- I'm both excited and completely freaked out by the journey ahead of me
However, the most important fact is that I'm a proud member of the Grassroots Soccer Marathon team and will be raising money to prevent the spread of HIV.
Each day more than 7,000 people die of AIDS, and it is the leading cause of death of women globally.
Grassroot Soccer sees a world mobilized through soccer to create an AIDS-free generation. Their mission is to educate, inspire and mobilize youth to stop the spread of HIV. By 2014, GRS plans to reach 1 million youth with life-saving education. To date, they have graduated 393,225 girls and boys from programs globally.
To achieve their mission, they continuously improve their innovative HIV prevention and life-skills curriculum, share their program and concept effectively, and utilize the popularity of soccer to increase their impact.
My request is that you donate to support this marathon journey and, more importantly, support GRS with their mission to save lives through worldwide HIV prevention. You can do so by clicking "DONATE" at the top right of the page.
See you at the finish line in Central Park!
