BENEFITING: GRASSROOT SOCCER
ORGANIZER: GRASSROOT SOCCER
As many know I've traveled lots through developing countries where I've been exposed to issues surrounding global poverty, worked for humanitarian organizations and global advocacy campaigns, and basically have a huge passion to find ways to help people, help lift themselves, out of global poverty.
Of all the issues, HIV/AIDS is something I'm most passionate about because it's something that with the proper education, can be prevented!
Very excited to be training for the Chicago 2013 marathon to help raise money for one of my favorite non-profits in the whole world, Grassroot Soccer! GRS uses the power of soccer, a sport youth around the world love, as a way to open up conversations with youth and teach them about how to protect themselves from getting HIV/AIDS.
GRS started in Zimbabwe back in 2002, and has grown to offer educational programs throughout the continent of Africa. They have educated over 500k youth ages 11-19 about HIV/AIDS (you may have seen these youth on the field at the SA FIFA world cup) and are saving lives with the work they do every, day. Power to the little people!
I'm a runner and figure if I'm going to run, it might as will be for a good cause. So I'm running the (MANY) extra mile(S) in support of GRS and the youth it educates and hope you will support both me and Grassroot Soccer in our big endeavors!!
