EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
In 2008 I was overwhelmed by the love and support I received in response to my coming out to my family and friends. I had been feeling a lot of anxiety and nerves about my decision and the reaction I would receive, and for no reason. The people who have cared about me and loved me my entire life, continued to and helped me feel confident and secure in whom I am. Unfortunately, there are many gay men and women who are not treated with such encouragement and instead experience a great deal of backlash and sometimes abandonment from those they care about. I know how fortunate I am and feel it necessary to pay it forward by showing the same love and concern for other homosexuals who are coming to terms with their identity and need acceptance. I have decided to run the Boston Marathon with the Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) to help show my dedication to helping others that I can relate to. I have been in their shoes and wish they could experience the continuous and overwhelming love that you all have shown me. I would appreciate if you would continue to be a part of my journey, and the 26.2 miles, and support me in any way possible. Donations would be greatly appreciated; however, there is no pressure because your support has been enough. Thanks for everything.
