CONGRATULATIONS TEAM HANNAH!
Hannah's House is immensely grateful to our truly amazing team of runners, their supporters, the many volunteers and local businesses who donated to our cause, and those who are still donating. You gave us wings, we made our goal, and because of you Hannah's House will be able to expand our services in the coming year.
During this campaign we were asked the questions "What is Hannah's House" and who was Hannah. In brief, Hannah's House is a nonprofit center for local counseling and community mental health resources located in Waitsfield, VT. We are funded entirely by donations, grants and important fundraisers like the Mad Marathon.
Hannah's House was founded in 2010 to honor the memory of Hannah Bedford, an athlete, artist and runner who grew up in the Mad River Valley. Hannah's journey with mental illness began in high school and ended with her death in 2009. Her family experienced first hand the difficulty of accessing help and understanding.
Hannah’s House has become an important resource for our area, sponsoring local, accessible counseling for children, adolescents and families, financial assistance for therapy, community outreach through educational programs, and alternative therapuetic services. It is our goal to help young people learn that they possess the tools within to deal with life's stress without.
We dedicate this run to Hannah and the individuals and families who struggle mentally and emotionally. Life is a marathon; we honor your bravery and courage and we are very grateful to those who run and support the run for mental health. .
