BENEFITING: HANNAHS HOUSE
ORGANIZER: HANNAHS HOUSE
EVENT: Mad Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: Jul 10, 2016
Six years ago family and friends started Hannah’s House so there would be a mental health resource in the Mad River Valley. We wanted to help reduce stigma, make sure everyone, regardless of ability to pay, could get help, and we wanted to help provide education.
Today Hannah’s House sponsors four affiliated counselors, a part time executive director, two licensure track counselors, and a second affiliated office in Waterbury. We collaborate with local schools, help sponsor numerous educational events, and foster alternative therapies including neurofeedback brain training. Our counselors provide group sessions and individual counseling 3 to 4 days a week at Harwood Union.
The generosity of our donors and a community grown well beyond the Mad River Valley are a vital part of this success story and I am grateful to everyone who has supported Hannah’s House.
Hannah’s story is why I fundraise in the Mad Marathon. Her progression from a vibrant, engaging teen to a troubled young woman will always confound me. Most of all, I remember how difficult it was to understand her struggle and find help.
Life is a Marathon; we honor those who run the hard race against mental illness. We offer Hannah’s House as an aid station to help along the way and we thank you for making it possible.
