BENEFITING: HANNAHS HOUSE
ORGANIZER: HANNAHS HOUSE
EVENT: Mad Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: Jul 10, 2016
Hannah's House is an annual fundraiser for me and raises funds for a cause that is near and dear to my heart. Hannah Bedford was a member of my graduating high school class. We played clarinet together for six years in band, shared an amazing English class together and many, many laughs. She was a bright, bright girl with a very contagious smile that made her a shining star. Sadly, Hannah is no longer with us and this fundraiser supports an organization that works in her honor to help others. It is very important to me to help prevent what happened to Hannah from happening to others. Hannah's family and this community has recognized the need for this type of care and has done an amazing job to provide those services. I strongly stand in support of Hannah's House and I am very proud to be running for Team Hannah's House again this year! I've teamed up with Chandra Blencowe for the Mad Half two person relay team. As childhood friends who both knew Hannah growing up, we both feel very strongly about coming together and helping Hannah's House reach their 2016 fundraising goals.
If you have a moment, please read more about Hannah's House below and if you feel a connection to this mission, a donation in any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Team Hannah!
We welcome you join Team Hannah or support one of the amazing athletes who are fund raising for Hannah’s House by running in the Mad Marathon on July 10th. The funds they raise will help provide mental health services for our rural area in Central Vermont.
Six years ago family and friends started Hannah’s House to honor Hannah Bedford who lost her battle with mental illness in 2009. They wanted to provide a much needed mental health resource in the Mad River Valley, help reduce stigma, provide assistance for those unable to pay, and help provide education for children, teens and adults.
Today Hannah’s House sponsors four affiliated counselors, a part time executive director, two licensure track counselors, and a second affiliated office in Waterbury. We collaborate with local schools, help sponsor numerous educational events, and foster alternative therapies including neurofeedback brain training. Our counselors provide group sessions and individual counseling 3 to 4 days a week at Harwood Union.
The athletes of Team Hannah, our volunteers and our donors are a vital part of this success story. Our runners’ dedication and willingness to fundraise for Hannah’s House by running in a very challenging marathon is inspiring to us all. Your generosity in supporting their efforts gives us wings and makes it possible for us to provide mental health services to our community.
We dedicate this run to Hannah and the individuals and families who struggle mentally and emotionally. Life is a marathon; we honor your bravery and courage and we are very grateful to those who run and support the run for mental health.
