For anyone that knows Hayden knows that he has the biggest heart in the world. For those who have never met him, let me tell you a little about "mini-me"...
Hayden is like any normal 13 year old. He likes video games, playing basket ball, skiing, but especially LOVES soccer. Hayden could talk to you for hours at a time about any league in the world, about possible trades coming up, coaches moving, injuries, league high scores...pretty much anything to know about soccer, Hayden knows it and more. Hayden was lucky enough to play indoor soccer over this past winter for the first time, which was a test for him because of how different it is compared to playing soccer outdoors. Hayden was also selected for a youth travel league in East Lyme which he excelled at. The coaches are very honest (most are from Europe and have some serious credentials) and challenge the kids daily, and I expect Hayden to advance and keep getting better game by game and season by season.
You're probably wondering why I'm telling you all this about Hayden and the details about soccer and how he lives and breathes soccer. Well, Hayden and his love for soccer, is the closest way I can describe my love for my son. The way Hayden thinks about soccer is the way I think about my son every minute of every hour every day.
Epilepsy took Hayden out of soccer for the spring/summer timeframe, but he's getting his cleats and shin guards ready for the fall. Currently there is no cure for Epilepsy, but most cases can be regulated with the right combination of prescriptions.
The first month, month and a half was pretty rough, Hayden had a seizure per week, most in the morning, one where he fell and his mother thought he broke his nose. One was on the school bus on the way home from school. As of August 1'st it's almost two months seizure-free.
