BENEFITING: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
ORGANIZER: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
Team Hole in the Wall raises money in support of the Hole in the Wall Association of Camps. There are 14 Hole in the Wall Camps located around the world serving children with life-threatening diseases. Each camp provides free year round camping opportunities for children with severe medical issues. All of the camps have medical staffs that enable them to provide campers with anything from the complex like chemotherapy or kidney dialysis, to the simple, like a bandaid.
The goal of camp is to provide children who couldn’t normally attend a summer camp with the chance to be “normal,” without being hampered by their disease. I’ve volunteered with kids who have Sickle Cell Anemia, HIV, Cancer, Heart Disease, Organ Transplants, and Epilepsy. Every one of those amazing children had the time of their lives at camp, and I’m honored to have the chance to support them. Because of the immense operating costs of providing this amazing experience to the most unbelievable kids, the cost to send a camper to camp is $2,500 per week. With your help, my goal is to send two campers to camp through my participation in the Boston Marathon.
