BENEFITING: HARLEM LACROSSE AND LEADERSHIP CORPORATION
ORGANIZER: HARLEM LACROSSE AND LEADERSHIP CORPORATION
EVENT DATE: Jul 14, 2013
This year I am doing my very first NYC Triathlon!! On July 14th I will be swimming, biking, and running to raise money for the Harlem Lacrosse & Leadership Organization (HLL).
In 2008, HLL founder and Teach for America member, Simon Cataldo was determined to create an after school program for middle school students at the Frederick Douglas Academy, a public school near West 148th Street. His goal was to develop an alternative environment for after school activities. Today, HLL is a youth organization that builds leadership skills and social responsibility, by using lacrosse to structure the lives of at-risk middle school students in Harlem. Coaches provide a safe and reliable setting as they guide players both on and off the field. In addition, HLL offers students the discipline, work ethic and leadership skills necessary to gain admission to and succeed at top academic institutions. Thus far, the organization has generated nearly $4.5 million in boarding school scholarship offers for their students. Since the program’s inception at FDA, every lacrosse player has graduated from 8th grade.
I am extremely committed to this organization and no matter how big or small, your donation is greatly appreciated. 100% of all proceeds go to Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership!
DO IT for the kids!!!
