Founded by Paul Newman in 1988, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families throughout the Northeast, free of charge. It’s a community that celebrates the fun, friendship and spirit of childhood where every kid can “raise a little hell.”
As many of you know, I have been involved with Hole in The Wall Gang Camp since 2006, where I was a counselor during the summer. That summer changed my life as I met some of the most miraculous children full of courage. I find it pretty difficult to put into words the meaning of camp and what it does for the children and families it serves. I think this quote by a camper pretty much sums it up: "Being at camp was like being in a world where nothing was wrong and I was as free as a bird and THAT is a great feeling."
Camp and the kids I worked with made quite the impact on my life and left a lasting impression - once you become a part of the camp family, it is something that never leaves you. I find myself always wanting to give back to camp somehow so that camp can continue to provide more fun and more memories, for more kids. Through Team Hole in the Wall, I am able to continue to not only be involved in camp, but provide opportunities for more children who face serious illnesses to experience the magic of camp.
Camp has allowed me the chance to participate in the 2013 Boston Marathon, one of the world's premier road races. I am proud to accept their offer and wear their colors as I run the 26.2 miles through Boston on April 15, 2013.
I am taking on the challenge of fundraising $5000 to support the programs and mission of Hole in The Wall Gang Camp. I hope that you all will join me in reaching my goal. Please know that any donation, no matter big or small, is very appreciated. THANK YOU for your continued support of camp. If this is your 1st opportunity, I hope you will join me in support of this great organization.
If you take a moment to view the pictures and video, you will see a lot of smiling - which is what it is all about!
